Payment Policy

All tuition and fees are payable during registration. However, student loans are available.  For more details concerning student loans, see the following student loans section.

Student Loans

Students who qualify with good standing credit may apply for a student loan. Student loans allow students who are unable to pay in one lump sum to pay in convenient monthly installments.

Students who wish to apply for a student loan are required to fill out a loan application that is available at the administration office during normal business hours.  Students are required to pay the amount of the loan plus any interest.

Students with loan applications that are approved by the university must sign a Payment Schedule Agreement that specifies the dates that the student is expected to repay the loan.  Failure to make any payments listed on the Payment Schedule Agreement to the university on the due dates, without any arrangement, is considered sufficient ground for barring the student from further attending classes or taking examinations, until the terms for settlement have been arranged with the Financial Officer.  Students who are delinquent on any of the payments may not register for the following quarter and will not receive their diploma until all financial obligations are settled with the administration office.

University Scholarships

Life University awards a limited amount of tuition scholarship on a quarter to quarter basis to truly deserving students who meet the following qualifications:

•  The student must be accepted for admission.
•  The student must submit an application for scholarship
•  The student must satisfy the scholarship requirements established by the Scholarship Committee of the university.
•  The student must submit any additional documents requested by the Scholarship Committee required for assessing the student’s scholarship application.
•  Apply at least two weeks prior to the beginning of any quarter.
•  Maintain the minimum Standards of Student Achievement.

If a student fails to maintain the minimum Standards of Student Achievement, financial aid may be terminated after a one quarter grace period until the required levels are reached.  A student who loses eligibility for financial aid may re-establish eligibility by maintaining the minimum Standards of Student Achievement.

Students that are admitted provisionally are not eligible for university scholarships.

Further detail regarding Life University’s scholarship programs and its requirements may be found at the administration office.

Veterans Benefits

Withdrawal and Refund Policy: The amount charged to veterans and other eligible persons for tuition, fees and other charges for a portion of the course will not exceed the approximate pro rata portion of the total charges for tuition, fees and other charges that the length of the completed portion of the course.

The maximum fee that will be withheld for registration shall be $10.  Any amount that exceeds $10 shall be prorated.

Students may find additional information regarding Veterans Benefits under the Academic Regulations section of this catalog.

Class Availability

The availability of each on site course listed in the catalog is contingent upon the requisite number of students registering for each course.

Enrollment Cancellation

All students have the right to cancel their enrollment for a course of instruction, including any equipment such as books, materials and supplies or any other goods related to the instruction offered in the Enrollment Agreement, until midnight of the fifth business day from which the student attended the first class.  Business day means a day on which the student is scheduled to attend a class session.

Cancellation shall occur when the student gives a written notice of cancellation to the registrar’s office.  This can be done by mail, hand delivery, or telegram.  The written notice of cancellation, if sent by mail, is effective when deposited in the mail properly addressed with postage prepaid.  The written notice of cancellation need not take any particular form and, however expressed, it is effective if it shows that the student no longer wishes to be bound by the Enrollment Agreement. Students will be given two “Enrollment Agreement Cancellation” forms at the time of enrolling to use in the event he/she decides to cancel their enrollment, but may use any written notice that they wish.  The “Enrollment Agreement Cancellation” forms may also be obtained at the administration office during normal business hours.  If the Institution has given the student any equipment, including books or other materials, he/she shall return it to the University within 30 days following the date of the notice of cancellation.  If the student fails to return any equipment, including books, or other materials, in good condition within 30 day period, the University may deduct its documented cost for the equipment, etc. from any refund that may be due to the student.  Once the student pays for the equipment, it is theirs to keep without further obligation.  If the student cancels their enrollment, the Institution will refund any money that he/she paid, less any deduction for equipment, etc. not timely returned in good condition, within 30 days after your notice of cancellation is received.

Withdrawal from a Course

All students have the right to drop or withdraw from any course of instruction at any time.  All requests to drop or withdraw a course must be in writing and delivered to the Registrar’s office in person or by registered mail.  If mailed, the date posted on the envelope constitutes the effective date of drop or withdrawal.  Forms necessary to drop or withdraw are available at the Registrar’s office.

Refund Policy and Guideline

• Basis for Refund

The tuition refund is solely based on the money received by the school after all applicable fees owed to the school are deducted. Any money not paid, discounts or promotions, will no longer apply upon your withdrawal. The tuition charge will be based on the standard (full charge) published price.

• Refund Policy

1. For Notice of Withdrawal or reduction in course load received on the first week* of the University quarter classes, a refund of 100% of the applicable tuition will be granted. Registration fees are not refundable.

2. For Notice of Withdrawal or reduction in course load received after the first week* of the University quarter classes, the institution shall also provide a pro rata refund of nonfederal student financial aid program moneys paid for institutional charges to students who have completed 60 percent or less of the period of attendance. Registration fees are not refundable.

* NO REFUND WILL BE GRANTED AFTER THE 6th WEEK OF THE QUARTER

Minimum Registration Requirement

The international students are required to attend at least three quarters prior to requesting a transfer. Otherwise, there is an early transfer fee of $600.

Withdrawal

For courses withdrawn after the period allowed for cancellation, the tuition refund will be prorated on a weekly basis. Additionally, there will be a withdrawal fee of $200.

Unclaimed Balance

The school has the right to any unclaimed balance beyond 180 days from the last date of student’s attendance or the scheduled start date if the student had never attended the school.

Expulsion/Suspension

No refund will be given if a student is dismissed for poor attendance or disciplinary reasons such as expelled or suspended. Additionally, for an F-1 student, the student will be terminated in SEVIS.

* Week means Monday through Friday only
** Tuition and fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Audits

Auditing a course or being allowed to take a course for non-credit means a student has obtained permission to attend the course and is not enrolled for academic credit.  Thus, audit or non-credit courses cannot be dropped nor refunds issued.  Audited courses are not listed on transcripts.

Distance Learning

The student shall have the right to cancel the agreement for Distance Learning instruction and receive a full refund before the first lesson and initial study materials are received.  Cancellation is effective on the date the written notice of cancellation is mailed.  Life University shall make the refund within 30 days of the cancellation.  If the first lesson and materials were sent before an effective cancellation notice was received, Life University shall make a refund within 30 days after the student returns Distance Learning material.  Life University shall mail all of the lessons and other material to the student if the Student has fully paid for the program and requests all of the material in writing after having received the first lesson and initial correspondence material.  If Life University mails the balance of the material as the student requests, Life University remains obligated to provide educational services that have been agreed to be provided, such as responses to student inquiries, student and faculty interaction, and evaluation and comment on lessons submitted by the student. The university shall refund the fees for any unwanted lessons that have been paid for and not yet sent to the student. The university shall not be obligated to refund the fees for any lessons that have been received by the student after the cancellation period.

Distanced Learning is not an option for Oriental Medicine, international students and veterans and other eligible persons receiving benefits payments.
